Some cool new features on the forum

So along with the known issues of this software, there are also some awesome new features to enjoy...

If you @mention someone, they'll get a notification. Great for threads where you know just the right person to reply. Just type '@' and then the first few characters of a person's username. Press up or down to select them and press enter. You can also click their name.
You can use MarkDown for formatting posts. I love this and use it all the time. Way nicer than bbcode.
Infinite scrolling. This is a pretty quick way to read through LONG threads. And if you've read it all already, you can just skip to the end.
Likes for posts and discussions. This will be great for showing appreciation for specific posts. We can eventually even use this for holding competitions and stuff.
This software is easy for me to program for. It uses modern PHP programming methodologies which means I can more easily add cool stuff as we go along. One thing I did, for example, was to make it possible to log in with your old password.

But most of all, it's just so darn pretty! The old forum was too ugly to enjoy!

Another I'd forgotten about is that you can start writing a post, minimise the reply window, go to another topic, and continue. Great for when you want to reference multiple topics or posts in a reply ?

Heads-up! I've just changed something...

You'll all notice a yellow speech bubble next to your name. That means you can start discussions and reply to discussions without waiting for approval.

New members won't have that ability to begin with. Only after they've posted once or twice without spamming or breaking the rules will they get their yellow speech bubble.
