'sup all y'all. shortly, and with the music gods shining copiously on both parties, i will be entering into my first long-distance (jhb-ct) guitar sale. i want to ensure the instrument and its case arrive in immaculate condition. by the same token, i want to ensure i get paid ?
so, any of you lads 'n lasses offer some suggestions as to handle this transaction - for a noob? under normal conditions, the purchaser would show up at my house, test the instrument to his/her satisfaction, hand over the cash, and we'd journey our separate ways (sic). but this... this is uncharted territory for me. would appreciate any advice.
many thanks all

I sent an acoustic guitar to Pretoria from CT last year.
I went with Postnet at the buyers request.
It was in an injection moulded, fitted case, so I was not too worried about that side of things, but Postnet covered it in big bubble wrap too.
I was very happy with their service. Think it cost me about R750 ish.

People are using The Courier Guy a lot, think it's around 250-350 for a guitar in case?
One thing to think about is the included insurance for delivery method - IIRC that Postnet has a default of R3500 on the R99 counter to counter posting.

Plus one on the Courier guy,
Sent 2 guitars via them to george and queenstown. Both arrived fine. Dont know the cost though, the buyer arranged it. They just pitched and took the guitars.
The one was a moulded fitted case. The other was a case the buyer sent, total mismatch for the guitar, but i then used bundles of scrap material to plug all the gaps. The case was simply wrapped in clingfilm a bunch, with a big fragile and this side up label.
The buyers both paid by eft, once it cleared and i was happy, i told them they could send the courier. Both transactions went seamlessly. They basically arranged the pickup date with the courier, and paid the courier, the courier then just arrives to get the parcel and hand you a waybill. I just then take a shot of the tracking number and send back to bhuyer sia whatsapp. Guitars arrived in 3 business days, and buyers came back sying everything in order. I just took a bunch of pics of how the guitar was packed, got buyer to confirm they were comfortable. And got courier to write that there was no damage on pickup. Also just as a backup in case it got there in a squashed or compressed condition.
Used postnet for pedals. Also went fine

I recently sent a bass to cape town, in a soft bag but I wrapped it up in bubble wrap available from postnet for 5 rand a meter. I bought 8 metres. Wrapped the bass up inside the bag and wrapped the bag.
Arrived in perfect condition.
Cost was 450 if I remember correctly.
