I made a short clip on how I recorded drums in the last challenge.

First download a VSTi of your choice. I'm using MT-PowerDrumkit
Which can be downloaded for free, legally at:
http://www.powerdrumkit.com/download76187.php

Get that set up in Reaper (basically copy the files to your plugin folder).

Then follow the steps in the clip to record drums. You can record different parts on different tracks for EQ purposes etc.

Thank you Warren, very useful info and clip!
      champion! thanks Warren.

got it set up and 85% figured out. Some keys work some dont, but I'll need more time (not today) to figure it out.

Thanks for taking the time to do this!

      Cheers.

The reason they don't all work is some midi notes aren't assigned to any specific drum sound... There is routing/assignments you can do somewhere. I haven't delved into that yet.

What I did find also is that MT Power Drumkit actually has patterns that you can use also... like intros, fills etc.

I am glad I've been able to help someone a little bit ?

Yeah, I've been using the patterns often, but find that it isn't the exact sound or rhythm pattern I need. It works great if you want to just jam to a drumtrack, but not for your own songs. You can also edit the patterns after you have put them into your track, but it takes forever. I'll delve into the assigning part and see what i come up with.

          Thanks again! :applause:
this looks super easy and the results fantastic. drums have been a real prob for me; i'll get right on this and see what transpires!

            cheers

Dom...let's hope the results transpire into an entry in the next comp? ? Will be nice to hear your sounds.
It's a great VSTI, it has a really full sound. I sometimes use it to process existing tracks that I have worked on.

                Thanked ?

there's always (and sometimes only!) hope ?
