Hi All

Just asking some input. I love Yngwie's work but I am not crazy about the vocal stuff on some of his albums. Which album would be the most instrumental?

Cheers
Conrad
Ah. Cool. OK to those who are interested, I managed to answer my own question. He has an album titled "Instrumental Best Album".

I made my own compilation from his first four albums and didn't bother after that. He tends to get a bit repetitious after a while.

Unfortunately I have to agree. I suppose that is why I'd like just 1 album with his instrumental work on. The high vocals with that slow vibrato can be a bit taxing after a while.
What is cool guitar on your Avatar? BTW Alan, I found the dual system pickups I need at Andy McGibbons for slightly cheaper than importing them.

He's had some great vocalists, but the bombastic lyrics kill it for me.

That's my old faithful Sanox - I've been using that since the late '80s. Unusual Japanese made guitar with extensive mods. More info and some good pics here

Great! If it's from Andy, I'd guess the LR Baggs?

I have some filter in my brain I think coz I hardly ever hear the lyrics. Might be something chemical lol.

I love the design. Not run of the mill. I love the natural look. It's a bit of the design I often noticed on some Warick basses. Beautiful through neck sigh.... Was it very expensive then?

Yes that is correct. I have done a reasonable amount of research and got alot of advice before making the decision. Now I must just get myself to drive there lol.
I share your pain Conrad, the music is cool, but the vocals kills it.

Ya look I know this is subjective but I just regard Malmsteen as one of the greats and would like more instrumental stuff from him. The high pitch slow vibrato vocals has it's place but I feel it tarnishes the Malmsteen genius. Please don't throw stones lol.
Great to hear from some other Ynwie fans around here. It seems to me fashion to try and put him down.

In my opinion he was a great guitarist. It is debatable if he was really the best or the fastest, but he surely was the best of the fastest?.

My favourite is his concerto album. All neo classical stuff and really a joy to listen to if you like that kind of stuff.

Sephi..no not putting him down at all. He must be my favourite electric guitarist.

I like what you said "but he surely was the best of the fastest".

I also love his concerto album. I want to get the DVD now. I really believe this man is seriously gifted.

                      Beautiful through neck sigh....
                      Yup. I love the heelless design through-necks. I suspect it's a Matsumoku
                      Was it very expensive then?
Swapped it for a nice pearl white Westone "Strat" and R100. The Westone cost me R350, so the Sanox cost me a grand total of R450. ? They were R550 new with hard case in 1984.

Goodness!! Can you still buys these today?
No, Sanox were only around a few years - they also did a plexiglass Strat and some pedals. Ten of these were imported to SA and I'm always keeping an eye out for another (I have a permanent E-Bay search set up for them). I missed one in the UK for GBP450 a couple of years ago...
