    Welcome!

THink you are living the life, know a few peeps who would love to join the emigration to the west coast side of the world. For sure, you'll want to get your fingers working for those braai time jam sessions 8)

Never too old to start and don't be discouraged by apparent lack of progress - stick at it, find a jam buddy or three and the fun will find you. One thing - if you can find someone to check out your cheepie for any impediments to your progress, it's time well spent. Sometimes a cheepie can be a horror to learn on - feel free to ask questions and find liked minded peeps on the forum.
      Welcome Startup Guy
You should have ample time for practicing during those beautiful West Coast sunsets.
Before you buy, play, feel and listen. In general the cheapies are not the hottest in quality and tone but there are diamonds out there ready for the right buyer. Cash crusader Jobbies is a definite no no unless they have a known second hand guit hanging on the shelf.
So keep up and making music with a guitar is creative, emotionally stimulating and a journey in learning.
      Have a plucking day!

Thank you for the warm welcome and words of encouragement guys.
After looking around and trying out a few tutorials on youtube, I settled on Justin Guitar (Justin Sandercoe). Find his tutoring style suits me well.

Excellent choice! There are plenty just like Justin, but a good place to start. Keep it up and be sure to structure your learning. I have also favourited Steve Stine on youtube. For my needs he preaches exactly what i want to hear, and he makes it understandable. ?

            Good luck!
