Hi - thanks for accepting my newbee membership - sorry to have posted a classified before doing my intro - if you're a Les Paul fan check out my post.
laters.......
Some background - I'm a long-time old school Durban boy - used to play guitar, bass and vocal in bands starting as a school kid in the early 60's then into the mid 70's - we covered the sounds of the times - starting with Elvis's rock and roll style and the Shadows then later the Stones, Yardbirds, Kinks, Cream, Zepplin, CSNY, Zappa etc.
A demanding career and family life saw me not playing a guitar again for for about 30 years until 2004/5 when I set up a PC based virtual studio, bought a bunch of guitars and other equipment and started doing my own recordings and it now consumes too much of my time again.

My musical Interests are vast - from classical music to experimental jazz and everything in between -
my music collection is huge, filling a couple of racks of multi-TB drives.

      Welcome Shado!

Durban is the place. I was born in the Addington Hospital circa 1963. You were most probably gigging already 8)

Welcome - Excellent news on the recording front - feel free to join us in the challenge section!
Welcome Shado. Great to hear that ex-guitarists do manage too claw themselves out of the proverbial life responsibility closet ? As a Hank and Shadows fan, delighted to hear there is another 'practitioner" in the dark art of surf rock. So will others. Pull up the mike, make recording, light a pipe and have fun

            Hi all!

Thought I'd introduce myself before posting ?

I've been playing for about 10 years now. I'm a blues rock fan, but as long as the playing includes some creativity and soul I'll probably be a fan. I'm not playing in a band at the moment, have two children under two years old and finding time to play is a major challenge.

            Some of my inspiration:

            Jimi Hendrix
            Eric Clapton
            David Gilmour
            Stevie Ray Vaughan
            Muddy Waters
            Jimmy Page
            Tom Morello
            John Frusciante
            Omar Rodriguez Lopez
            Jonny Greenwood
            Dan Patlansky
            John Mayer
            Johnny Fourie

            My setup:

            1994 MIJ Fender Telecaster
2004 Fender Stratocaster Eric Clapton Signature
            Orange Tiny Terror 15W Combo
            A few (too few ? ) pedals

            Yamaha CPX 700 Acoustic
            Fender 5-string Banjo

Looking forward to spending time here!

            Neil
              Welcome Shado and Voodoo!

Hey Neil, I'd like to see a picture of that 1994 MIJ Fender Telecaster ?!
