Hi fellers and fellerettes,
So after many many, MANY moons I dug my kit out from underneath the rock I'd been keeping it, restrung my guitar with fresh iron, set up, plugged in and then.... fizzle. Nuthin.
Gt-6 powers up, tunes the guitar properly (so it gets input) and output VU meter function works. So input no problem. Sticking the axe directly into my amp is also fine.
I get no output from it whatsoever. No digital. No line out, no headphones, nothing. I've tried everything. Patch levels are maxed out, master output level knob at the back of the unit is maxed (and everything in between) but still nothing. I've performed a factory reset as per the manual, still nothing. I've tried every trick I have the cable for and have now battled for over two hours and I am at the pojnt where the eco-whore on my right shoulder is whispering to have the damn thing recycled for scrap. Fair bit of gold in it if the colour of the casing is to be believed. >☹
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Riaan

Hey bud,
Is that same one?it couldnt? Could it?
Hehee, feels a bit like the twilight zone..
Are you 100% sure the cables are running intomthe correct ins and outs?
Also, are you uing the right specced power supply?
Good luck

Che! Long time no see! ?
Si, it's the one and only. At some point the volume pot at the back got a knock and it gave up the ghost, but I sourced a replacement and performed a successful solder surgery. Fancy 5-terminal dual channel alternating current jobbie. It worked perfectly after that for a long time, amd it worked fine the last time I played. Which was long ago, admittedly.
All the cables check out and I've tried two different headphone sets which are known to work (plugging them into the amp works). I'm now concerned that the output circuitry is damaged somehow, but have no way to check since my electronics knowledge isn't up to the task. I have moved house three times in the past five years, and who knows. A bit of static maybe? Power supply is original (with original clothes iron plug as I received it from you ?). All seems in order I'm just not getting any output from any of the output jacks. Expression pedal checks out too.
Not a happy chappy, I love that bloody thing. Even though it was holding back my learning.
My cort seems to have developed a slight twist in the neck as well. Hmf.

Probably output IC. Would need to measure voltages on it to see if there are voltages there. But most probably died from sitting for so long (which isn't a common thing, but does happen).

I recently experienced the same thing on two pieces of kit, first I had an old ZOOM 9002 and second a Yamaha APX6. Both over 20 years old, both completely dead sound wise.
After lots of investigation on Google it was the caps in both cases that had died. The ZOOM I ended up tossing but I managed to pick up a new preamp from Yamaha SA at a very reasonable rate for the APX.

Thanks, Greg. I opened 'er up, disassembled the lot and gave the boards a good clean, all the switchgear and connectors got a good blast with contact cleaner and compressed air. I also went over my soldering and reflowed it just in case I had a dry joint (unlikely because the fault wasn't intermittent but it never hurts to make sure)
Anyway, da Boss lives again! Whoohoo! No idea what the root cause was but that's unimportant now.
I have put heavy guage elixirs on my Cort (12-52) and boy, it's got a lovely vibe to it! The twist in the neck was a figment of my imagination, the nut is worn and needs fixing.
In fact, the missus is at a work function tonite, I'm going to blast my practice amp a bit!
