I know.. I know.. ANOTHER 18w build. It took me a LONG time, so figured I'd wait till the end so I don't update every 2 months. Decided to spend some time with my old man and make an amp I can pass onto to my kids (his grandkids) that we built together.

Here are some pics.

Not as neat as I'd have liked, but hopefully better next time!

VVR

So, I started on the cab..

Definitely not as neat as I had first dreamed it'd be.

1.. 2.. Skip a few.. Nearly done. Just got my tolex to put on. Need to buy some speaker grill cloth and i'm done and dusted.

Sounds great, really enjoying it! HUGE HUGE HUGE thanks to EZ! That guy is a fountain of knowledge and so willing to share it! Would still be staring at my box of components without his help, haha!
Flippin smart. Nice build. Trying to think of suitable complimentary adjectives
      Well done!

That's a lot neater than my 18 Watt. Good job.
Aha, that is what a turret board is used for! :-[

Great work Paul, thanks for sharing - those cabs look so sturdy I think the great-great-great-grandkids will be jamming this.
          Good Stuff Paul!

Just need to give it a name
            3 months later
Forgot to upload a couple more pics. Did the tolex a couple months ago. Need to find piping (anyone have any good ideas?) and get a logo made.

Nice job, Paul. What do you think of the VVR?

I never really tried it without the VVR (I sort of did, but not with everything assembled), so, it's hard to judge. BUT, I love what it does and the flexibility it offers me. No brainer that it needs to be included.
Just to add a datapoint here, I have an 18 watt just like this one, with the VVR. I also have an attenuator with a line out which allows me to get a signal from the amp to the computer and compare high and low VVR settings at the same volume. In my tests I have found that the VVR really doesn't actually affect the amp's sound much if at all. But when used through a real speaker it sounds much better louder. Again pointing to the fact that guitar speakers need some volume to sound their best.
