  • My tribute to The Alan Parsons Project - Distant Horison

Hi everyone,

I've recorded a tribute to one of my heroes, Alan Parsons. I have always admired his production and writing style and with this track I've tried to capture that same sound. I hope I've done him justice. This is the final track off my new album "Wide Open Spaces".

I hope you enjoy,

Cheers,

Peter.

          Brilliant.

What are you using to achieve that lead guitar tone? Amps, pedals, etc.

            Thanks, Tokyo,

All the electric guitars were played through the Line 6 Helix directly into the desk.

            Cheers,

            Peter.
Yiss Peter. This is good stuff. That guitar playing is stellar! Well done man!

I currently do all my recording through the previous gen Pod HD500X into USB.
You got some epic tones on the Helix there dude.
Wow........ man this is awesome. I do endurance sports this track would be perfect to psyche up prior to an event.

Where can I purchase this album online ensuring you get the best slice? I see it is on iTunes.

Thanks, Warren. Much appreciated. I still have my HD500X. I still rate it as one of the best out there.

Thanks ICM. The best place to get the album as a download is from CD Baby. You have a few choices as to format etc.

Wow. Love that. A hint of Pink Floyd's Dogs there too! Good work getting the video to line up so well too.

Peter, if you don't mind, I have a few questions about your boards (as per your website):
                        - first, who made them? Super neat.
                        - how do you use the EQ on the small board and why not on the big one?
                        - how do you use the A/B and line selectors on the big board?

                        Thanks!

                          Thanks for the comments, eg.'

Regarding the pedalboards, I made them. The only reason that I have an eq on the board was that I had it lying around. I don't actually use it as an eq but more as a boost for solos.

The line selectors are also used as boosts. I find that if I put a boost in the beginning of the chain it lifts the level quite nicely when I play my Strat compared to the Les Paul. It also lifts the level into the Blues Pro which gives it a bit more of a "focused" distortion. I only have one boost on the small board as I was trying to cut down on space.

The AB switch on the other board is used to swich the guitar output from the amp to my Talkbox.

                          Hope this helps,

                          Peter.
Aha! Interesting. I hadn't come across that before.

                            Thanks for your time.
