Well done Eujean - No prizes this month, but you get the -dubious honor- of starting the discussion on the next challenge topic! ?

I'm leaning towards a 2min full song challenge as we've done in the past, with a little collaboration twist in the format...but I'm completely open to any and all suggestions.

However, it wasn't a tune...
Lol I don't know how I missed that in the challenge description.
Errr...good point, it wasn't there, my bad :-[ - It was *kinda* a suggestion to "get your song on", which really meant enter anything.

I've been trying to keep options open to encourage entries = less explicit requirements and more open to interpretation.

    Well done and congrats Eujean!

I have a suggestion of sorts. I've been browsing Reddit lately and have seen that you get like a gold thing next to your name if you've "won" best comment or whatever. So if you post something so incredibly rad people will nominate or sponsor you or some shit, I haven't really looked into it, and so you're awarded a tag for it.

Maybe there could be some sort of tag next to a user's name, one for every comp they win? So even when theres no prize like this month, Eujean still gets tagged as having won one of the competitions. However I'm not sure that there'd be enough room on the page for Studmissile's tags.
i got 2 votes? wtf, i think some people were deaf. lol

I'd appreciate critique on what i submitted. what you liked / didn't like..

I have a different version i recorded, just need to upload it. That should have been my entry, but alas, it happens when your better ideas come after the competition has ended.
Well done Eujean & Meron , great entries: Beautifully played!

Loved the solo TokyoPOP, pity it ended too soon!

Norman86, like I said, I preferred the one no one heard, so get it up! I look forward to hearing more guitar from you!
Well done gents. Gold medals all round!!! Now.... lets do the next challenge!!

I like it! Dunno if Norio can implement such a thing on the forum though. What we do have is a "Hall of Fame" (http://www.guitarforum.co.za/monthly-competition/weekly-competition-hall-of-fame!/. Hasn't been updated since Nov 2014 though...basically since Adrian was getting tracks emailed to him (instead of soundcloud uploads).

Overalll, I prefer soundcloud uploads, easier to link to a soundcloud track than upload and embed.

Not sure if/when Eujean will get us thinking around a topic - anybody care to venture something?

Format-wise, I'm thinking a 2+min full song challenge, where you have to collaborate with someone (fellow gfsa member or other). Collaborations can be of any nature (producer, mixing, arrangement, lyrics, rhythm guitar, bass, drums, etc) and you could collaborate on > 1 track (If you wanted).
              Idea...

We have a single drum track, lasting about 2 minutes, that each participant has to play over.

Catch is the drum track isn't just a standard beat looping over and over. Its has fills, pause breaks, obvious beat changes and other elements that really encourage to player to come up with something that fits the overall drum track and likewise isn't just a repeating riff.

The music has to to change to suit the drums and that may include an intro, verse, bridge and chorus or simplified to just verse, bridge and chorus.

Basically write a little song inspired by an interesting drum track.

All great ideas, but please try and keep in mind the beginners?
Great idea Tokyo!! I am in for that
I dont have anyone to colab with so this would be right up my alley.

                    Yeah my bad.

Or then in the spirit of Deadpool and Street Fighter 5 we have something like a Fight Music theme for this month.

I really enjoyed everyone's tracks a lot! Well done guys!

I don't have any particular ideas about the next one, but looking forward to whatever it might be ?

Actually this should be the title of my track as well.
Fixed the crappy chorus part, more lead work included.
Feel free to listen and crit etc.
oh yes, my manners are appaling... call it shock from getting a couple of votes. lol
Well done Eujean and Meron. Awesome tracks. 8)
                            Nice update norman. Well done.

Tokyo - by 'fight' I assume fighting in the general sense of the word? Not fist fights only? But like 'war' also? Any fighting really? The topic is pretty vast so I think it could go down well. My 10 cents.... ☺
Oh and when u said fight i immediately thought of Rocky and Eye of the tiger.... ?

Yeah I mean like something that could play during a fight scene of any kind to amp the scene up in a movie or video game.

Fist fight, Kung Fu fight, jet pilot fight, two Eskimos fighting over a hole in the ice, whatever you can think of.

That could be a Rocky-esque tune like you said or a heavy chugging guitar riff or whatever else floats your boat.
Thought I’d jot down some ideas I had. Try and do the same so we get this year covered!

                                    7. Alternate tuning is pretty cool. Drop D is what I know, but I found this nifty diagram showing ALL the different tuning variations. (I have attached said diagram for those interested.)
