I've heard some fantastic sounding Ashdowns. But is 125W going to be enough? That's not very powerful for a bass amp.
125 Watt is not enough, I'd not go lower than 200. My fiancé has a 300 watt Asdown Mag 300. Heavy as all hell but it sounds pretty awesome.
      define medium sized venues? ?

but aye, as others have mentioned 125w prolly wont cut the mustard in a live setting...
125W is to little even for small venues but Ok for practise in a smaller place. As volume depends a lot on tone settings on Ashdowns you will be loud of you include lots of mid tones. Depending the style you pay this might be welcome. I would also get a 2x10 or 2x12 option rather than a 1x15 with less power. But this will make the unit expensive compared to the power it produces. The 1x15 cannot handle the max volume setting(very few bass amps will) Most Ashdowns have a line output(after tone eq settings) and a effect out(the one you want has this as well). Both can be used to go to the mixer and PA system. I have a EVO300 II 1x15 combo. It takes a while to get used to the available eq settings but once you mast that I think it is a very good amp. Heavy, yes due to the heavy transformer and speaker in it. I can connect a second speak cab to it as well as disconnect the build-in speaker and use external one. I have an old Fender 2x15 cab rated at 300W and for this gives me a fantastic volume and tone selection. At medium venues I never had to go past 60% volume settings with this cab with some good portion of bass, mids and treble eq settings. Plenty loud and clear but sometimes I think I need a second cab just to get better clarity in the lows. And that is for onstage use as in most cases we put everyone through the PA in medium to bigger venues. I think that they are good value for your buck and would recommend them any time.
I have an Ashdown mag300 with 2 x 15 " cabs that might be up for sale. Enough oomph for most venues ? PM me and lets chat.

Yes. Buy 2nd hand whatever you do. Ashdowns of every stripe are very affordable used. For my back, I wouldn't go bigger than a 1x15 (sorry sakkie), but opinions vary. Hauling a bass amp combo gets old really fast.
Thank you all for the feedback.

Sakkie, I will message you about your price but to be honest I only planned on possibly getting something after New Years and after I've splurged on some guitar pedals that I need sooner rather than later.
