Hey guys.
I need some advice from the veterans. I can get an almost new Roland Cube 15XL for R900. I've played on a larger one before (the 60w I think) and it was pretty awesome. I know Roland is a great brand, but I'm wondering if the 15w will be of the same quality.
I'm currently using a Behringer GM108 so pretty much anything is an improvement at this point. Just don't wanna buy something I'll regret later.
Thanks in advance.

Never tried one of the behringers, but you can't go wrong with a cube @ R900. Would be absolute steal if it's one of the newer models - they're a bit more flexible when it comes to having running multiple fx's simultaneously.
It's still a small practice amp with a small speaker (8in?), it won't be able to move air like the bigger speaker (esp @ at volume). If you are chugging away on a djent-y riff, you really want to move air.
The 60w is a bass amp? Perhaps it was a 40w or 80w cube you tried?
G-Man
I used to own a 15w cube, for its size it is surprisingly loud. The on board distortions were a bit shit but there is chorus and reverb that you can play around with as well. I only sold mine because I only play through my interface and into my pc these days.
900 bucks is a good price as well.

You won't regret it! I have the 30w Cube and it's amazing what tones you can get out of them!
Distortions are not great but you can still have a ball. The clean channel is superb!
The power squeezer is good stuff, get that that full volume sound at 1w.
The best part of the amp for me is to just plug in and play, no worries about pedals etc. So great for practicing!
What else can you buy for R900. Dinner for a family of 5 at the Spur?

Thanks for the advice guys. I only need a practice amp for now, so you've pretty much convinced me.
IceCreamMan
go for it ....
an anecdote , I once went to a gig in the banbury cross area and one of the guitarists in the band was playing through a 15 cube mic'd up ...well well well ..I was most surprised at just how good he sounded...so no reason why the cube cant work magic.
xl also has on board tuner as I recall, another win

That's pretty awesome. I should have it by the end of the month. Pretty stoked.

So just an update. The guy I was gonna buy from decided that R900 is too little for the amp (as one of his friends sold one for R1400 apparently) and refuses to sell it, leaving me without an amp as I sold mine last Thursday.
But serendipitously Hasie notified me of another seller. Now I'm getting a Cube-40XL for R1500 on Saturday. Much win.

Even better! Still small enough to practice one and big enough to move some air to annoy the neighbors... ?

The block of flats I stay in is cylindrical, with my room facing the inside. So if I crank it up I may just annoy the entire building. XD

And it has the Power Squeezer taking it down to two watts for 'sensitive' areas. I love them with my Tele, not so much my Strat though. Very tough, loud enough to gig with and with enough built in effects. I liked mine so much that I got another. You have done well!

Update:
Got the 40XL yesterday and this thing is ridiculous! I cranked it up to half volume (on a plot so didn't bother anyone) and even that was enough to make the windows shake. Thanks for the advice and insight guys. I am one happy camper.

Never go wrong with a cube!
Congrats and enjoy.
