Hey guys.

So recently I have been getting into these quirky old japanese guitars. Anybody know if we might find these things around here in pawn shops? Or if anybody has one they wish to sell... Please let me know!
    Howzit Neil!

You can check out SA Music Store on Fb. There's a guy selling a Segovia (LP-style) guitar. I've seen one or two Teisco guitars there over the last year - people usually wanting to know how much they're worth as they've inherited it from a family member. Oh, and then you can also check out drowninginguitars.com They've got loads of quirky Japanese guitars, and they demo them on their YouTube channel.
Found this site a few days ago : http://www.silvertoneworld.net- Real nice site for researching that odd amp/guitar that you stumble on.

Hmmm...SA Music store. There's a few odd guitars popping up, though -imo- the prices are a little steep at times - vintage rules apply I guess :-\. There was a yahama samurai posted recently that was seriously wierd - in a good way.

Pawn stores and classifieds can uncover a gem or two - but it's as uncommon as SA Music store.

Best one I've seen in the last year was a westbury that was somewhat trashed (but had the original dimarzio 70's PAF's) which was traded in at the gear junkie last year. Some parts + screwdriver, strings & a setup = great guitar!

Best one I ever managed to find is my 65 harmony bass guitar - which after 20yrs of ownership - I found out it was made in the Gretsch factory & has one of those De'Armond gold foil pickups. And we gigged the *dickens* outta of it in a indie band waaaay back in the day...makes me laugh when I look at it now - The guitar version is around $1000-1500, with single pickup going for up to $400 ?
        Ahhhh...electric guitars...not acoustic...

I tend to want to buy any acoustic guitar that seems to have survived more than 20 years. Recently saw a Angelica 12 string, circa 1975-77. Made in Japan...still want it, but my piggy bank is now empty... ☹
Thanks guys! I'll check it out. Yeah some of the prices are a little steep. There's a Yamaha SA-15 on musicworx.co.za going for R5000...
@Nitebob - Old acoustics are awesome too! I have an old made in Japan Aria 12 string. Not sure exactly how old she is.... Model no A-684.

You in CT Neil? Swear I saw one for sale recently on GT...did you buy it?
Not at all. I'm in Pretoria and bought it off a mate of mine.
Man I was drooling over that Aria...it was a Mahogany 12 string. I said that if it was still available come payday (at R899) I will buy it, alas, I see now it has gone... :'(
