Hey everyone,

This might be in the wrong section. If so I am sorry!

I do not know much when it comes to guitar effects and pedals but I have a Boss DS1 and a Korg multi effects pedal that I like to use occasionally. I used a boss 9volt 230V power supply with them for quite a few years until recently when it stopped working. I took it to my local music store where they told me it is completely fried and I'll need a new one.

I see they are quite expensive just for a power supply so I was wondering if there are any cheaper alternatives rather than buying the expensive Boss power supply?
Depends how serious you are about them. The better supplies have toroidal transformers and have proper regulated systems, so they provide smooth 9v DC power for you. Those Boss ones are switched mode, they basically switch on and off many 1000s of times per second. Problem is, this results in the hum. I'm looking too. I have a R200 supply but it sucks and I think it fried my Boss DD7 and it hums. I want one of those better ones now. I don't know prices these days. Pricey is my guess, judging by what pedals cost now.
Well any 230v to 9v DC power supply will work. My first one cost R200 and it had a daisy chain to power 5 pedals at once. Maybe ask a different music store. I think I got this one at Lovemore music.
PS, I've now bought a Dunlop dc brick secondhand to power more pedals and to eliminate noise. Cost me R1000. The noise either comes from a ripple from a bad lower quality regulator or from not being grounded or shielded properly, but if you're not concerned about it don't worry.
DO yourself a favor and dont try spend less.... The boss power adapotors are about as basic and cheap as I would go. Try a One Spot, or a Godlyke Power All.
You maybe spending more but you wont have it breaking or sounding like shit

This is the route I would go. Save a bit of $$$ in the long run as well as real estate at the wall plugs. ?
There was a neat idea posted not so long ago which was make up a battery pack for your pedal board, using model aircraft type rechargeable batteries. ...
