  • Line 6 Helix - new flagship multi-fx

I know there are a few POD HD users on this forum (me included).

The new flagship multi-fx from Line 6 looks very interesting indeed.

They seem to tout certain features such as stompbox mode toggling and IR loading as revolutionary - but these have been around for quite some time...

At a price point for the floor unit at $1500, could this compete in the market with more expensive products such as Axe-FX and Kemper?

It looks cool... and I like the flexibility. But I don't know if it is R13 000 - R20 000 better than my POD HD500x.

The thing is good looking. I like the different colours and the buttons each have their own "screen" to show what the button does.

    Awesome piece of kit!

I do agree that the higher up you go the more diminishing the returns become, in much the same way that a R20k guitar isn't twice as good as a R10k guitar but will still be better. That being said, and yes it's not revolutionary cause the Axe-FX has it and that one digitech unit has it too, but fuck yes to IR loading, this is a super rad feature and one of the most frequently requested for the POD HD units (next to a pre-delay to sort out the phasing issues you get with running dual amp sims). If you want an idea of how awesome it is get LeCab, find yourself some high res cab impulses and run the amp sim of the pod without a cab sim on it into it, it is better than the built in cab sims by a pretty substantial amount.

I do like my POD HD500, I think out of all the lower tier modellers it is definitely the best one, which is great cause I'm broke 90% of the time, however having messed with a Kemper before I can definitely say that these upper echelon units are most certainly better and it's cool to see Line 6 stepping up it's game like this.

It does look like quite a nice unit. The IR loading feature is great.

Here is another good video about the unit if you haven't seen:

Which Digitech unit is it that offers IR loading? (Is it the Digitech GSP1101?)

          It is the GSP1101 yes.
