432Hz is a load of nonsense ?

Bwahahaha....I thought the same when I googled it this morn :roflmao:
Well done Studmissile! You've really started to clean up in the challenges :applause:

Congratz to all who entered and thank you to all who voted - nice to have a upward bump in voting!

My 2c on a few of the entries :

Hasie : Definitely keep entering, there's usually categories (beginner, intermediate, advanced), but this month we was all thrown into one - can be discouraging to go against guys who've polished their recording process - but a grand opportunity to listen to their tracks, and ask how they got their sound and learn more about the process.

Tokyopop : One of my votes - I'm a sucker for the style, though the recording was a tad piezo-y for my taste. If you'd blended a mic with the DI input, I reckon you'd have given Stud a run for his money?

Warren : You allllmost got my vote, as this was the most likely of all entries to actually make it onto my phone as a ringtone...but - forgive the critique - those bends (or the notes that were kinda the lead), made me grind my teeth :-\ - Clearly I'm a bit sensitive to that aspect of music, as Doc Phil is to timing issues...Otherwise, Composition & production were good!

Mmmmm... My bending still requires work I think. Was I missing the pitch, maybe going out of key?

I reckon I'd have to learn the piece you were playing, once under my fingers I'd be able to hear what worked for me - the pitch you were hitting on the bends just didn't sound right to me.

The reason that I maybe a bit sensitive ...I'm stuggling with the same thing at the moment - I had invested a fair amount of time getting a 1/4, 1/2 1, 1&1/2, 2 & 3 step bends sounding right...on the strat using Fender Bullets. Now using Elixir's (same gauge) I've found that they feel a bit stiffer and the bends are definitely out - gotta re-school the muscle memory.

Perhaps, as it was a new piece you were getting under your fingers you were fretting a bit harder and with the metronome/click going caused a bit of recording anxiety? It's a bugbear of mine, getting a relaxed feel, recorded nicely - I've (imo) only managed it once for a challenge...and that piece wasn't specifically recorded for a challenge, but I entered it anyways as it fit the genre of the month.
              Congrats Studmissile.
              Thanks V8.
                Congrats again Studmissile.

Thanks man, I'll definitely give that a try next time. I agree that tone is... regrettable.

So, another month until the next challenge? ☹
Well done to all, great turn out! Also liked the double vote opportunity!
Thanks for the votes, it’s always great to get compliments from fellow forumites you respect and admire!
This was a great run guys - but we not going to do this every week haha, but we definitely will do more of these challenges. There will still be a proper 1-2min entry next month, where all rules still apply - and then possibly another mid month challenge as well.
                      a month later
