I lumped all entries into one category again - and I'm revealing names so we can encourage participation on thread.

Goodluck gents

"I tried to go old school blues rock with this one with copious amounts of reverb and fuzz. Bands such as The Black Angels, Rival Sons and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club inspired the track.

Imagine yourself cruising the highways in the deep south of the USA"

Damn Mixerboy! Nice crazy-ass solo at the end there! Respect ?
Nicely done guys, 3 great tracks!

Studmissile : Chilled & very listenable - liked it more on each listen. Is this the Micro BR in action again? If so, a major improvement on last month. Guitar(s) sound real good, though I felt the drums were a tad monotonous - perhaps a lit more vol on the hats, some fills and I thought some cymbals (occasioanl crash or a ride pattern) would have filled some of the space you created with the verb & delays.

Dr Phil : epic. Epic. EPIC. Loved it. If Sons of Anarchy went into another season they'd be licensing this track. Great ear candy with the intro of the faint guitar in the background & the keys - worked for me. But the cherry was the mix. Sooooooo good, it's a pleasure to listen to it.

Mixerboy : Gotta +1 Norio's comment - loved the crazy solo. Almost noize, but not. The acoustic guitar had a awesome sound & feel to it, really really dug that.

Dr Phil got me vote - creatively it was the closest to what I'd listen to when I go for a cruize (AC/DC : Fly on the Wall ?) & the production was (imho) flawless.
Sorry guys I like all three but being "Old School" Stud gets mine

Very chill, laid back tune. It was great, although my comment would be that it became a little monotonous. The lack of variation perhaps is good for a background tune which perhaps is what you were going for.

I would have liked the main theme to be developed a little more, and for there to have been a little more oomph somewhere along the line.

Great effort, despite it being a rough sketch. I can hear this is not as polished as your previous entries, but still, awesome - and that solo is very impressive. Very Pantera-esque.

I found the transition from the acoustic section to the heavy section a little jarring and off-kilter. I take it you just didn't have time to work the idea to its full extent.

Thank you ? although these are guitar playing challenges, my main aim (due to my playing limitations) is to improve production wise. With this genre and playing style, I could afford to be a little more loose in my phrasing (and a little sloppy and off time in some parts).
Studmissile: I think overall this one fits the brief the most, more like what I had in mind, maybe if the tempo was a bit faster it would of had more "cruising in a car" vibe. Could have down with a key change here and there as well.

Doc-Phill: This one got my vote, fits the bill in it's own way plus the production is good, the harmonica/organ sound (is that a guitar?) would have been better a bit louder for "vibes" sake.

            MIxerboy: ......slacker :-\

Well done doc-phil. I'm gonna send your details through to PB.

I will pick the next theme - has been a bit of slump in entries, so hoping to pick it up!
Doc-phil's tune gives me the urge to grow a beard, buy a chopper, and start a Black Label Society rival gang band.

Speaking of which, that song could almost double as a BLS-esque song for the April challenge.

Damn it dude ! My heart can't take this stuff !!

BLS are still touring , no revival necessary !

They are one of my must see bands and I thought from your post they had given up or Zakks health had taken a turn for the worse !

I actually changed my holiday plans in 2011 and travelled to The Hague to see them only to have the concert cancelled an hour before because Zakk wasn't well.

Sorry for the mini hijack, but the adrenaline man, adrenaline is still coursing, going to need an extra blood pressure med dose now !!

                  Phew.

Haha, Zakk is very much alive, but he did recently get a sex change in order to front his new passion project, a Bonnie Tyler tribute show in Vegas. Ok ok thats a lie.

But seriously, I would love to go back in time and see him live in his earlier days when he still had the ability to enunciate. Theres an old video of him playing Machine Gun Man on youtube. Thats a Zakk I would love to see live.
