  • A dream amp in a small package: Mesa Boogie Mark V (25W)

Mesa Boogie seems to be attentive to what the market wants, in this case it's the same great amps without making ears bleed.

THIS would undoubtedly be on my wish list:
Mesa Boogie Mark V (25W).

Man oh man,
if only I was an oil sheikh then I would have one by now. ?
Then again, for such an amazing amp, the price really isn't that bad.

None of the Mesa's are wired like that. It takes up a LOT of space, so you must decide if you want 20 kobs and switches or point to point wiring, you can't have both in an amp that you can actually pick up and move around (and fit in a car).
To be honest point to point wiring is totally over rated and one of the many forms of snake oil the industry tries to sell. ?

That being said the Mark series are probably my favourite amps, so it's super cool they've done this, but also still way out of my broke ass price range ?

I always hear things like they're wired like computers and are difficult to work on etc. That might be the case but I have hardly ever heard of a Mesa amp being unreliable. To me Mesa are the PRS of amps. Damn, that combination - PRS into a Mark V.
        Goosebumps I tell you. ?

Yeah, I did gather as much, was just joking ?

I'll take lots of knobs any day ?
            It sounds absolutely incredible ?

            =

I've always found most of these lunch box heads lacking but this one does an incredible job of staying true to the Mark V sound.

The trouble will be twofold: one, these modern designs are littered with parts, two, Mesa designs tend to only work without oscillation if you build'em exactly like they do. Lotsa gain going around....
And coupled to a ridiculously high supply voltage....

There are some DIY Mesa design around on the Sloclones forum, good food for thought.
