    Nice share Warren!

Had my eye on one the strat kit, wasn't sure about the wood they were using for the body (Paulownia), some reports of other guitars made of it mentioned it was a bit soft compared to Alder/Basswood. Stripped strap screws were the complaints.

But chatting lapdawg, he reckons it's a useful tonewood - he was wanting to chamber a heavier wood and fill it the chambers with Paulownia for weight relief. Quite keen to hear the result.

Alas, I have a few too many projects in the que for this one, but at R1199 it's a damn fine deal for a maple necked project. Upgrade the pups and dbl check the bridge & strap screws are quality ans I think it'll be a fine addition to a guitar harem :?
SG sold out, Strat and "base" (bass?) still available

That's basically exactly what Gil Yaron did with his Bone design (modernised les paul)
He also says that Paulownia has one of the widest tonal spectrums. More so than the industry standards.
