I mentioned this in my other thread (question for the ages: which cheap guitar, etc etc) that I am able to make custom scratch plates at work with the laser cutter we have there. I just want to gauge the interest with this thread, to see if it's something worthy of pursuit! So let me know if you'd like something like that.

Basically, you can tell me what it is you want (i.e., plate for a certain guitar model, pickup configuration, you want extra pots or less pots or whatever, but don't want to drill and chop up your current scratch plates!) and I can do a bit of research and draw the schematic out in Corel Draw (because the laser needs a vector image to be able to plot its cut).

Can also do different colours of material, different materials etc. Pretty much any plastic, but no metals. I can engrave metals, but not cut. You could also do custom pattern engraving on your scratch plates, or cut certain shapes into them or whatever you like.

Let me know, 'cause the option is available.
I'm certainly interested and not just pickguards...truss rod covers, back plates etc...can be rather tricky to source locally.

In order not to totally re-invent the wheel, you might find this link useful : http://www.terrapinguitars.com/pdfFiles.html

Also search the GFSA forum, quite a few threads from back in the day regarding custom pickguards. Particularly choice of materials. Wood ones would be quite cool, apparently plexi tends to crack over time & the proper pickguard material is pretty much import only (AFAIK).
I'd be pretty keen to have some ABS pickguards cut some time next year.
niiiice to know bud, will def look into getting a new scratchplate made for my Fender ?
Ricky, I can send you some PDF files i have of different scratch plates if it will help? Should give you a decent base to work on? I'm sure you can modify them on Corel if you want?
