  • What is the ultimate METAL guitar pedal?

So as the topic says.......I've been playing some mean pedals lately and i keep on coming back to my fullbore metal.

Is there something out there, (even boutique) that is note worthy?

Favs have been the Ibby Tube Screamer and the Suhr riot and the EHX Metal Muff.

And guido...............no Metal Zone comments please?

Wife decided that it's a nice time to renovate the house............the entire house and guess who's doing most of the work?

Ok, subjective understood............I'm aiming for a Thrash metal sound...........
I've got a radial tonebone trimode... It's capable of some heavy tones...

Here's a review with heavyish tones (maybe a bit more rock than metal though):

I'm gonna be that guy, I normally don't like being that guy, but I'm gonna be that guy.

To me the best pedal for metal will always be the Tube Screamer or some variant of tightening booster with a decent amp, it just always sounds better than a pedal doing all the "heavy lifting" on it's own in my opinion.

Great example here of a boost style pedal making a head that sounds awesome sound more awesome, and then awesome in a slightly different way.

I agree with Chad. You should focus on getting your gain and tone from your amp, not a pedal. Putting one or more tubescreamers before your amp on full boost with little to no drive and tone to taste should give you exactly what you're looking for, provided your amp has the requisite balls.
Last time I checked, which was a few years ago: Wampler Triple Wreck, Okko Diablo/Dominator, Emma Electronic PisdiYAUwot.
There might be newer ones out there, I'm sure, but these ones were pretty good.

Chad is right though. Boosting an amp is the tried and tested method.

+1. And iinm, forumites Shreddysmurf & Reinhard both had OKKO Diablo's for sale.
