Anybody else noticed the prices of solid-state amps lately? Amps like the Blackstar ID range and Orange Crush pro, even the Marshall MG's are coming in above a decent 15W all valve amp.
(Btw I am looking at the 50W + range in the solid-states. Maybe not a fair comparison?)
Everything is getting more expensive. Everything ☹

It could be that you are comparing a price for old stock with that for new stock but for almost all of the amps I've seen, solid state is still generally more expensive. Just remember that high end solid states have always been in a similar price range to low end valve amps.

That could be the case. I began searching for a decent solid-state amp that'll be able to gig and be reliable. Had a little valve failure at church just after soundcheck last Sunday. That'll teach me to have a backup ready ?. But I figure having a solid-state might be a more reliable option or a good backup amp. Don't know about the modeling ones though. They're cheaper than analog solid-states in most cases but the sound quality seems to get worse the higher the volume to my ears....

The day a 30-50watt SS amp reach the Fender Blues Jr price, i will . . .

. . . ermmm, not sure what i will do.

Just be very happy that i saved my @rse off (not even mentioning the hundreds of sacrifices that i had to make) and bought what i could, when i did/could.
