I'm with Pete - was not intended as a moneymaking thing for anyone, but as a get together/networking thing.
I would be just as happy with throwing the door open (or a nominal entry to keep the riff-raff out).
Just to clarify my earlier post. It wasn't meant to be interpreted as a "take the money and run" statement. I know the guys at Rumours, very well. There will be a cover charge, regardless whether Jayhell intends to charge an entry fee or not. Fred won't let an opportunity slip past him to get 30/40 Bucks per person at the door. If 200 people pitch up during the cours of the day, that's R6000-R8000 worth of revenue in his pocket.
My point of view, is to divide the takings up between everybody who participated. It's not for financial gain, but more as a "Thank You"-gesture.
I played at one of X-Bob's TJ nights a while ago. He clearly states that you have to pay a nominal entry fee regardless whether you play or not. I fully expected to pay the fee and would have, but the BOB never mentioned it, nor did he charge my guest artist or the two chicks that came along with us.
That gesture from his side, whether intended or not, spoke volumes about the man for me.
My point is, a simple gesture of appreciation, never goes unappreciated.
