Why don't a % of the money go to the acts performing on the night? Using the funds to support GFSA musicians seems more related to the GFSA-forum. I am however in full support of a charity donation.
Only realised now there is an entrance fee.
Just a suggestion, I don't really mind either way.
BEST SUGGESTION of all. Add up all the takings after the gig. Divide the Nett Profit by how many musicians (take note, not "acts", I mean actual people that set foot on the stage and played an instrument. Include stage-hands and sound-engineers if you have to) dedicated their time, effort and PETROL to the event.
Then pay the various dudes via EFT afterwards. For bands, pay the Forum Member that you dealt with beforehand and he/she can then pay their people.
It might turn out to be R150 a man, but that will cover petrol costs to get to the gig for starters and you won't have to schlepp after sponsors and try to please all kinds of "outsiders".
Remember, charity starts at home.......and if I'm not mistaken, GFSA is the "communal" home of 90% of the performers on the bill.
