Hey there, how are y'all? Yes, I come from that land way way up there where we shovel snow all winter and enjoy hockey. The real hockey, you know, played on ice, not this grass field game you play here! ? But seriously, I don't really like hockey that much...

I've been in Cape Town over a year now after living in Jozi for a month. It looks like I'm set to stay here with my girlfriend for a bit. She's from Maputo and attending school here in CT.

My gear right now consists of an Ibanez Artcore, that big hollowbody/archtop model they produce. My last guitars back in Canada were a Grestsch 5120 in black (the big archtop) and an Epi Les Paul jr. My amp was a Fender FM25 DSP.

I also use to play bass and I'll likely pick it up again. Back home I had a Fender P-bass in purple that I called Prince, and a big double bass from King DoubleBass that I sold. I'll still mess around with a bass guitar or upright when I come across one, but I'm not that great at it.
Welcome, to both this forum and this beautiful country of ours.

Pity you don't realy like hockey, ice hokey. I love the game and played for a few years myself. Many moons ago ☹

I trust you will enjoy your stay.
      Welcome to Cape Town!!! :applause:

I played hockey when I was a kid. We had a big ice rink in our backyard every winter when our pond froze over. My brothers and I would play with our cousins. I lost interest in hockey back in 1999, when Gretzky retired. The magic went out of the game for me, especially with the popularity of the neutral zone trap. I do still skate (about as well as I walk, comes natural!) and I'm looking to check out the ice rink at Grandwest soon.

I was actually really surprised to see that people do like ice hockey here at all, I didn't think warm countries would play it! I recall there was a tournament going on in Cape Town last year with the national ice hockey team. So I know y'all have some folks here who are serious about the sport!

Great city. I've been around a bit and this town continues to blow my mind.
Welcome to CT and the forum.

Larivee, eh? ? Did you manage to get a nice one while working there?

I have a theory that the reason you Canucks are reportedly so nice is everyone pours so much aggression into ice hockey that they have none left for anything else. ?

Jonh jr, who runs the Canadian plant, offered to sell me one at cost but I had all the guitars I needed at the time. I'm not much of a 'collect a whole bunch of guitars' kind of guy. I like to have a big archtop and a skinny electric on hand and that's it.

Good theory on the hockey. I can remember a few times body checking one of my brothers and us being better friends ... after we were done playing!
