Do any of you valve hoarders have any good NOS 6922 (AKA E88CC, 6DJ8, 7308, 6N23P) valves? I want to try rolling a few different types in a mic. I have an old Philips gold pin E88CC in there now, but would like to try a few others.

Any of the usual suspects welcome: Amperex, Telefunkens, Mullard, Brimar. I have some JAN Philips and a Russian NOS I'd be willing to exchange/part exchange if you'd like, otherwise any reasonable cost.

At least they were never used in guitar amps... ?
I Recently replaced the Valve in a very harsh Rode K2 mic with a JJ Tesla, and the mic is sounding alot sweeter now, i think it was the EC88
Yeah - the K2 uses a 6922. Ultimately with the K2 (and my NTK) the real reason they are too toppy is the capsule, but a good valve does make a difference, smoothing out that peak. I've been looking into changing the capsule for a better quality one like the Peluso or Beesneez, but spending 2.5-5K on an R8K mic might be overkill. ?
I am actually also looking for a matched set of 4 of these 6922's! Found them rather difficult to find!

        Hope you come right!
        G!
Why matched? New production it should be easy enough to get a set. If you must have NOS, then the JAN Philips were all fairly tight tolerance - that's one of the things that made them JAN (Military spec).
I'll have a dig through my boxes over the weekend. Think I may have seen some.

I have a Valve Audio stereo amplifier that uses 4 of these tubes (2 per channel), so they need to be pretty well matched. Its seriously the best amplifier I've ever come across, and built right here in SA! Been enjoying its beautiful tones for the past 2 years with no isssue, and I don't think the tubes are even close to failing yet even with daily use, but I'd like to have a set of tubes ready for the day it does decide the tubes are done! According to the life expectancy of the tubes, I should have had to replace them about 6 months ago. ?

I have a few samples in my stash. Let me look and report back.
                  Not much to report :-\

I have a GEC 2493 with gold pins. That might be worth inspecting. Then some Hewlet Packard 6DJ8's that looks pretty used.

Thanks - those both look like they'll be worth a try. I'll email you later.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I desperately need 4 of these 6922 valves now.

Mr Valve has no stock, so that route isn't going to work, anyone got any other suggestions?

                      Regards
                      G!
Can't help you with a quad, but have a pair of JAN Philips if that'll help.

Actually glad you pulled this up again - reminded me to contact Karel.
