Hi everyone, I am having some trouble with one of the speakers of my PA system. If I play certain notes on my guitar, it makes this terrible distorted sound, but only in the one speaker (I think its coming from the horn. Its an Alto 12'' speaker. I have two of them hooked up to an Alto RMX1008. But only one speaker does this. Does this mean that the speaker is broken? I am not playing at very high volumes at all.
One more thing:
I had been playing at home with only one speaker for about a week as i didnt realise that the other one was unplugged. would this make a difference? (The speaker that was unplugged is the one that is now distorting)
Thanks in advance

Yeah, sounds like most likely a blown horn. Easy test - swap the horns in the two speakers and see if the problem moves with the horn (they usually just have terminals, so it's as easy as loosening a few screws and unplugging them - just stay aware of positives and negatives).
If the noise stays with the cab, it could be a loose brace or other panel resonance (less likely, but it does happen).
Good news is that even if the horn is blown, most manufacturers use the same few horns and it's often possible to get a replacement quite affordably. A lot of the more common horns even have modular and replaceable diaphragms, so you can just buy the one part (they're kind of viewed as consumables in the pro audio world).
However, it's been a long time since I blew a horn (speaker protection circuits are wonderful things), so I'm not sure who stocks these kinds of things these days.
