Tim from JHB South here.

I've been a passive reader of the occasional GF topics here and there, and after the TJ's show last night I decided, what the hell ?

Really good to see GF members supporting each other! After all, a forum is a support group for those who embrace their addiction, instead of trying to be cured of it :roflmao:

I know Ilse and Sean from Days of Rain, was really impressed with their performance, well done guys! Also enjoyed PeteM's blues journey, he had the crowd from the first song right through to the end. The last gents to play (I think it might be CostaFonix and co?) were also rocking. Unfortunately we missed most of the first act.

Anyway - a little bit about me, I've been playing bass and acoustic casually for about 10 years, nothing serious.

Current kit...
Bass:
Ibanez SRX 725 5 string matt black (for sale)
Schecter Diamond Series Extreme 5 on elixirs
Tanglewood Acoustic bass 4 string on earthwoods
Hartke 115TP and HA2500 head - in DESPERATE search of a 210TP cab to suit, but they seem to be scarce in SA!
Acoustic:
Ibanez AEG10 blue on elixirs
Electric:
Crate GTX212
<insert future PRS acquisition here - pending successful SRX 725 sale>
HW:
M-Audio Delta 1010LT
Aphex 107 tube mic preamp
odds and ends

My wife plays first violin in the Rand Symphony Orchestra, starting to teach violin and is a member of a local band Faz and the Firecrackers and (IMHO) an FL Studio boff. As you can guess, she far overshadows my musical ability. Puts me to shame actually.

Looking forward to supporting, learning, and sharing!
Hi Tim.... welcome. Thanks for the kind words.
      Hi Tim

Which one were you? ? Were you on the table that made the most noise?

The last act was Dewald and Rudolph

I was seated at the big table in the front/middle - the one that got rained on - and quite possibly the noisiest table, I don't know. I can however guarantee you that we made the most noise in the form of applause too ?
          Welcome Tim

Are you far enough south to be called an Ampertonner (Alberton) for the rest

Incidentally Sean introduced me to this site.
Have fun, it's a great bunch of guys and gals
            Thank you!

Err... Bassonia - so yes, far souf enuff !

Grew up in the Vaal - far enough South to be considered north of Pretoria ?
Howzit Tim ? Sheesh, thanks for the kind words. We were totally blown away by the support you guys gave us. So good to have you here. Hope to see you guys soon
