Hey peeps.
As some of you know I built a SLO100 some time ago but never really got it to work. Seems I had some grounding issues. Cleaned up the wiring and made it all pretty. Hum has been eliminated finally. Normal channel seems to work beautifully. However the OD channel makes a buzzing metallic sound but only when you play. Tapped on the valves to see if any of them is micro-phonic. On Normal channel all seems fine, but when you switch to the OD channel the PI becomes micro-phonic. Any ideas? Either I have micro-phonic valves or perhaps some components that are faulty. I'd like to get some idea before I start poking again.

Well thought I'd just give an update in case anyone is interested. I found my stupid mistake and finally have the SloClone up and running. Turns out I broke a leg on one of the resistors powering the OD channel switch... ooops :-[
Did a mod or two just to try and even the volume of the two channels out a bit. Sounds epic now just crap loud. ?

That sounds awesome! Glad it's up and running. Do you have experience with other amps that you could compare it to? What Wattage is it?

Good stuff
Any chance of pics and a sounclip?
Would love to hear this thing.
I'm looking into having asmall high gain amp made but am super confused by what to go with

I've played some Marshalls and a Boogie or two, but this is nothing like them. The drive is very smooth and squishy. 80's!!!! I build the 100W, but realizing now it's overkill haha. The Marshall and the Boogie both have a sort of harshness compared to the SLO. However they have their places to take in my DIY arsenal... Pics I will still post eventually haha and then as for audio will talk to many to do a few clips.
There are quite a few nice High gain amps out there. You could always do a 2 channel high gain amp? Having the two channels independent with say a smooth drive and a harsher drive. A high gain amp that has caught my attention is the Framus Dragon I think... IMO kicks the boogie rectifiers ass... Then you have the bogner amps as well... I guess it all depends what you really want to do and that is why I want to build so many amps haha....
You could always look into building different preamps and a small power amp.

i have played on this amp for a while
really smooth high gain overdrive, its really high gain but it doesn't fizz, i just love it, and pushing the volume is the fun part
