Not too much progress in terms of the finish. Acquired the paint so that's next on the list.
But first, how to mask off the design. Fairly simple actually.
Measure out your rings. I was going to do an exact copy of the Wylde bullseye and have it printed and cut on vinyl. I thought against this though and decided that I had better see what would fit on my shape and size.
pin point your center point and measure from there.
Measure out the spacing on a piece of card.
pin pricks and then opened up to accept the pen / pencil.
Hammer in a nail to hold the card in place.
With your marker in the holes keep the paper / card taught and circle it around the nail.
Tada!
Masking off. Pretty self explanatory. Make sure the surface is free from dust and oils.
Run a nail in the overlaps to make sure there are no air pockets under the masking tape where paint could creep in.
With a blade, cut along all the lines. Removed the section for the first matte coat. You cut all the lines as it may be difficult to trace the lines once the first coat is applied.
