hello people - long time since i was on here..
wonder if someone can help with a query on amp speakers as i dont have a clue what its about..
i have a small amp that feeds into a single 4 Ohm speaker..
can i use that same amp, disconnect that 4 ohm speaker , and have the amp feed into 2 x 16ohm speakers instead??
any reason why this cant be done?
thanks in advance.

If it's a solid state amp then yes, you can run it into an 8 Ohm load (2 x 16 Ohm speakers in parallel = 8 Ohm), you'll just get half the power (which might well be offset if the speaker cab is more efficient than the stock speaker)
However, if it is a valve power amp, higher impedances are usually a bad idea and can damage the amp.

ahhh many thanks Alan,
and yeah, its a solid state.
