I've got an old MIM P bass that I have relicked.

I want to put a better heavier bridge onto it as the MIM is flimsy.

Anyone have an opinion about it improving the sound?
Mass at the bridge and a strong witness point (saddle contact w. string) are key to tone. My little Cort Curbow with its resin body had massive tone because of the enormous milled aluminium bridge.

So I would say its worth doing. No personal experience on which bridge to go with
I like the heavier bridges too - take a look at the Hipshot.

To be honest though, the lightweight bridges have a certain tone that's part of the vintage sound.
Yep, i still have the lightweight bridges on my US P-basses..
The one on the Music Man is huge though... prob depends on what sound you are after..

There is no right or wrong though..
I've always like the Badass II bridges in my fenders. Try find one second hand, they really cool.

With the Badass III coming out, prices should drop soon enough.

The Badass II and the Fender HMV (High Mass Vintage) are quite popular, but I think the Badass is more flexible and a safer bet
