The point is not that Billy 'likes' Tokai guitars. The point is that Billy F Gibbons slings a guitar that says "Love Rock" on the headstock. Good enough for him...ShreddySmurf wrote:Billy has been quoted as saying most of his guitars are John Bolin guitars, even if they're labelled as a Gretsch or Fender or whatever. Tokai Guitars
He also has that beard. He's hiding something... Maybe Bruce Lee is stashed in there.ez wrote:The point is not that Billy 'likes' Tokai guitars. Who cares, really? Some people like it, some people don't, some people aren't bothered either way etc. Billy also sports a massive beard and lots of sequins, which has no bearing at all on my own feelings about those things, but might be absolutely crucial to someone else.ez wrote:

Guys, the same point has been made repeatedly from all angles. Can we talk about something else other than condemning how other people feel about a head-stock or a logo? ???
I Agree With Shreddy.
I don't have anything negative or positive to attribute here purely from the lack of Tokai experience. I demo'd a Love Rock LS160 and my first impression was...... Pretty Solid guitar in terms of feel and response.

Agreed !!! This thread is becoming as boring as watching paint dry. I think .... "Sigh, my girlfriend dumped me, please help!! " was more fun! :?ShreddySmurf wrote: Who cares, really? Some people like it, some people don't, some people aren't bothered either way etc.
Id just like to know why tokai only have an es 330 shape hollowbody and not a prs shape hollowbody too.
I mean, they already have that range solid bodies?!

LOL, Easy fix that. find a new girl, then sandpaper her name off and change it to your ex.Aubs1 wrote:Agreed !!! This thread is becoming as boring as watching paint dry. I think .... Problem solved. ?
Hmmm, I'm a bit late to this thread. I don't own a tokai, but used an LS95 on a few tracks on our upcoming single. Sounded good, played great and translated well to "tape". I've also lusted after a GS118 which would've been the mutts nuts when I still worked in the RnB scene.
Is there a huge difference between the LS92 and the LS160/LS150?
The finish is different. The LS160 has nitro and the LS92 has poly...
The saddles on the LS160 are made from brass and the tail piece from Aluminium, unlike the Nickel chrome(I guess?) of the LS92
The pickups are the same PAF MK2's
The body on the LS160 is a one-piece mahogany vs a two-piece for the LS92
The switch, pot and jacks on the LS160 are slightly better and it features a sprague orange drop condensor which the LS92 doesn't have.
I stand corrected, but I think the LS160 has a different neck joint as well, and Gotoh tuners.

You can check the specs below on the Tokai website UK and SA:

The LS160 is basically built exactly like a '50s Les Paul. The LS98 sticks to the same principles but cuts costs with a two piece body and less costly hardware.

Hi all.
I bought my first Tokai from Lance just on Tueseday and I can say I am more than pleased (coming from a PRS). I did split the humbuckers for more versatility for my selection of cover songs. I am looking for a spare bridge humbucker as mine is not working correctly. I am in Gauteng area

Tokai for the win. Every time
