  • GAS money to spare - what would you do?

I sold my trumpet (not a euphemism), so I have come into some spare capital. Around R6k.

My thoughts are going two ways at the moment: either the Eventide H9 or a small and portable valve amp, like the Ibanez TSA30. My current amp is not small by any means. It takes two people to move it, and it barely fits into the backseat of car, and definitely does NOT fit in the boot. It sounds amazing though ?. H9 would be more fun, but I think the TSA would be more useful...and it means I can run in stereo!

What do you guys think?
    Just saying. I spied a '65 Twin for R10k...
      Stereo FTW! Get another amp.
I'm also looking into a 'dual amp' setup at present, and hoping to make it into a reality in the next little while, but that's getting sidetracked.... Unless you are after specific effects to shape your tone, I'd look into the amp option. You can characterise and mold your root tone from your amps, and build up with effects (if necessary) from there. And yes, having the TSA does open up the extra tonal palette of being able to run stereo or dual amps.

Its a tough one though! Both options are great!

        Good luck deciding!
        G!
Why not the TSA15? It has the switch to go from 15W to 5W for home use
I've owned and recommended Ibanez TSA amps. They are great for the price (3.5-4k for the head and cab) but no where near the quality of a fender blues jnr or peavy classic 30.

IMO if you want a small amp and have a budget >4.5k look beyond the TSA.
I'd take a look and decided which it was I needed, rather than just wanted. From your description, the amp makes more sense.

Also I know it's boring, but when last did you invest in accessories/consumables like cables?
I think the amp will be more useful. I need it for teaching and the odd performance where the big amp can't fit on stage...

And, as luck would have it, my local store is having their annual sale this weekend. Spoke to my salesman friend, and there is a TSA30 on the side for me.

not sure if its the one mike saw and no idea to cost but ronnie at allbang and strummit had one in ... 2nd hand but no idea on year either ..... Worth a call if you looking ......

And i am adding i'm not affiliated to the store or the amp in question ? just caught my eye .....and worth sharing
I would rather go for a Blackstar HT20, but then again, I may be a little baised. ?
                          4 days later
I picked up the TSA30 new at the Coastals sale for an absolute steal this weekend ? Running in stereo is addictive. The new amp sounds great.

I also managed to sell my POG2, so I was lucky enough to order the H9 this afternoon! A very good weekend for GAS ?

Congrats! It's the one amp that tempts me too..

I found gigging with a stereo amp-based rig cures the addiction quickly. ?
Decent nails and a shoulder refit.
