So a good mate of mine, very kindly loaned me his Strat today, seen as though usps "lost" my LP, in transit, and I havent managed to use my amp I purchased last week as yet.
Beautiful guitar, and I got to make a disturbing amount of noise for the most part of today ?
I found my JCM800kk has a great clean sound, but is missing a bit of reverb. I asked recently about the Boss / Fender Bassman pedal, but after playing through the amp, Im not too sure the tone will work as its supposed to, and have been looking at this pedal as a substitute:

http://www.tcelectronic.com/hall-of-fame-reverb/

From their site it seems I can purchase it locally from http://prosound.co.za/index.html.

Anyone have any experience with it?
From the video it seems pretty awesome, especially seen as it is TonePrint enabled, and endorsed by some serious guitarists.

I have one, great pedal. Sounds brilliant, well made. Can upload custom tone prints to it.

Awesome. Were you able to buy it locally, or did you have to purchase overseas, online and ship it?
I have one too. Very nice pedal indeed. Got it from Marshall Music in Tokai.

          Brought it in from ProGuitarShop.com
Nick and myself got the HOF from ProGuitarShop.
I have used it in front of a Marshall and a Vox AC30 and it sounded great. I sold the red one for the Trinity model, but I would be happy with either. Build quality on the TC pedals is really good as well.
+1. Any happy HoF user here.

IINM, fellow forumites ez and mojo jojoe are also HoF users.

Nifty reverb pedal with a board friendly footprint.
Plus you get the Toneprint editor now! Epic win!

                Thanks guys, much appreciated ?
Ive called around today, and Ive been told its on order at a local music store, quoted a price of 2k.
After my recent usps experience Im kind of allergic to importing my own stuff atm.
Jeez.. Rand really took a hit if its now around R2k...
Im sure you'll be able to find one locally at a better price...
                  Try second hand!!
Hell, when i sold my flashback, i only got interest when i had it up for 1400.. And the rand was in a better state, plus the pedal was pretty spotless!
I paid R1800 for mine a;most two years ago. R2k doesn't sound too bad to me to be honest.
I mean it's bad! Veyr bad! But I don't think you'll get it cheaper easily.

that said, if you wanna import you should check out www.stevesmusiccenter.com. I've bought several pedals from Steve in several different transactions and each one has gone done without a hitch. He has a great selection of boutique pedals too.
                      Well, from proguitarshop its $149...
So R2k... Im not buying it.. Unless that was the "retail" price and not the "discounted" price... That would make sense!
Norman86 wrote: Well, from proguitarshop its $149...

At over R10 to the Dollar ATM, you're not going to save anything by the time you've added shipping and VAT.

In fact, you are going to pay more by the time you add on exchange and bank costs, clearance fees, etc.. You'll also have to wait weeks for it, run the risk of it going missing during shipping, plus have no usable warrantee.
R2k "discounted price" on a pedal thats (more than likely) been in the store since before the price took a dive... easy profit! ??? :-\

                            I don't get it...
                            - You moan when things are more expensive here than they are in their country of origin, regardless of how often the economics of the situation are explained
                            - You miss no opportunity to accuse all and sundry of profiteering, just for conducting business in a sensible manner
                            - You rarely respond when any holes in your rants are exposed
                            - And when the exchange rate works in someone's favour for once, you even use that as "proof" of your profiteering charges

I've been tempted to say this on many occasions, but haven't before today: if getting the same prices as in the US is so gosh-darned an important a thing in your life, then why not move there? I for one am sick of being exposed to your agenda.
I think, again, having paid R1800 (cash price, "this is the very best we can do") in late 2011, that R2000 on the same product two years later is not an unfair price.
Further, I think you'd end up paying well over R2k if you decided to import the pedal at 149USD.
                              That's my take on it.
These are all music SHOPS, like any other retail lines, the shops that make no profit are the shops that redecorate their windows with that trendy particle board or centre management posters.
Could always try the 'bay route...I've bought a TC Electronics Nova Delay and Polytune off the 'bay before...
Personally, if the price is close to the price you can bring it in from ebay then I rather buy from the shops locally...
BUT, when I bought those pedals the Nova Delay was around 40%+ cheaper, stores quoted me R4500 (discounted to R3500)
and I got it for R1800 including shipping (had to pay like another R130 at the post office). The Tuner I got for R650 when stores wanted over R1000.

Hell... you could even buy it off bid or buy for R1850 (free shipping advertised).

Got one off Amazon a while back, around the $150 mark. R2k in your hands sounds pretty good at current exchange.

Pedal's not bad, does the job. I use it more as a spacey effect than to actually get a realistic room/hall reverb sound (which I'm sure it can do just fine too). Tried the PC toneprint editor today actually and there are a stack of extra parameters available to modify. You can fiddle with them on your PC and it adjusts the sound on the pedal real time as you play, pretty cool.

the price is not totally whack... if it was double the price then I'd cry foul...but even then it's their choice to sell at the price they wish...
Again...I feel for ANY shop or commercial entity at this time... if they buy stock now they will lose big time if the Rand/Dollar thing comes right in a few months
because then us bargain hunters will whine again.

I have however seen and bought things in the shop that came in ages ago and were sold with a markup according to the original cost price... i.e. they didn't cash in on the
rand dollar thing to help them.

At the end of the day you COULD save a little money by doing some leg work yourself OR you could buy from the shop and save the legwork...If it was saving big cash
then I wouldn't think twice... but in this case (depending on your experiences buying over the net) I don't know if it's quite worth it to save R200 or R300...
                                      Thanks again everyone ?

I dont think Ill go the import route again.
Over the last 6 or so years Ive brought in quite a bit of stuff from China, New York, the UK etc... And my last three purchases off of the Bay, was never delivered, and ended with me having to make a Paypal claim against the sellers, which takes 3 months to process, until I got refunded. After the last disaster with my guitar, Im completely put off of it, and it appears I wont be refunded in a hurry either, so I will be sitting without a guitar for quite some time still.

Ive watched a few demo's of the pedal, and I actually think its worth the 2k. I didnt even blink when I was quoted the approximate price, because I kind of half anticipated it to be a little pricey. Its gotten rave reviews wherever Ive looked in my research. I will opt to buy my guitar locally now, and will be paying a damn site more than I would have, so Im not too sure how much cash will be in the budget for the pedal, but long term I will more than likely get one at some stage.

Can anyone make any suggestions or a reference to perhaps another pedal which might be similar? I mean Reverb stompbox. Its cool to be able to have something similar to compare against. I find it gives things a little perspective.
Well *the* small-factor reverb stomp to get would be the Strymon Blue Sky IMO, but you're looking at probably double the price. It's the benchmark for a stomp reverb though I reckon.

Heard good things about the Digitech Hardwire one too, can't remember the name.

                                        EDIT: Digitech Hardwire Supernatural Reverb
