Anyone have any headsups on sales?
I asked at Marshall Woodmead and they said they would prob be having a sale at the end of August...
Does anyone have info TOMS (Sandton or Braamfontein)?
Chocklit_Thunda
No info on the Toms sale but I'd definitely recommend waiting for it. The prices can't be beat... The day you find a R5000 amp for R1500 anywhere else you call me! ?

So I could get a "real PRS" for SE prices? lol

The TOMS ( Braamfontein ) one used to be at the start of July every year...prices were awesome, waiting for the shop to open and be anywhere close to the front when it does was another thing...

Dude they slash those prices so low! People wait outside that store for hours before it opens! People walk out of there with full drum kits and marshall stacks! One dude got a huuuge marshall cab for R1200... you know those beginner guitar packages you see going for R2000 to R3000? Try 1000 bucks. New ibby gio basses for 900....
Makes all the other "sales" look inadequate

Yup. I was there twice where we started to queue at 20h00 on the Friday night, and were the 5th group there.....nothing like camping overnight on a sidewalk in Braamfontein in the dead of winter....

Yeah I recall waiting in the cold, dark street for a few hours prior to opening on those saturday mornings for the Toms sale.
They did have some amazing prices back then. I never ended up buying anything major tho...oh no wait, I did hahaha Totally forgot, because I went back on the sunday, and it was still there, but in 2008, I bought my Japanese Takamine 2005 limited edition there.
It had been in the shop for a few years, so Christo (he still worked there then) let me have it at 50% off their marked price.
It wasn't the best discount given that weekend, but she's my main guitar to this day...in fact. I have just returned to the office after taking her for a lunch time jam in tokai forest.

I am keen on the sale... not keen on camping overnight to get something tho... eish...

Then go later, there is plenty.
We only got there so early because we were 16 and excitable.

Just one question Warren... Why do you need to buy new? Why not save yourself a load, and get something from another forumite or even off the tree?

He's mentioned in a couple of threads he's looking at 2nd hand as well...actually it's what he would prefer

Yup, I haven't been on for a few days, so I just caught up with those 'other threads'. Thanks.

lol. just if the specials are as special as it seems then I could pay only slightly more for a new guitar, sometimes coming with a free setup.
currently you can get new prs se guitars for 5500 to 6000 New with the second hand ones coming in around 4000 to 5000 rand. my budget may be a little higher than anticipated due to being able to part out my old guitar and also having money I was going to spend on moving my bond (which ain't happening anymore) available. so I am pretty keen to shop around very carefully. maybe get a second hand prs se and chuck in some sd pickups or something and get a decent setup done.
