Hello everyone, My name is Steve.
My GFSA posting name "Harlequin" comes from when I was a gamer. I played Starcraft 2 for a very long time, this is probably part of the reason why I'm still studying. (EU/Diamond/Zerg) :dance:
I'm Studying Accounting at UJ part-time, and working, doing some odd bookkeeping jobs for my moms small company.
I spend majority of my spare time and money on Guitars, Cigarettes, Guitar accessories and my Girlfriend ??? ?
I live in Johannesburg, Randburg/Sandton region ?
I enjoy a wide variety of music, Pop, Blues, Rock, Metal, Country. Even a little dubstep when I've forgotten to charge my iPod ?
I play mostly metal and rock, and when I say "play" I mean "attempt to play".
I'm a longshot (around the world) from being called a musician, but playing guitar, looking at them, reading about them, and hearing them makes me happy.
So I dropped the Starcraft Habit, and picked up a new, more stimulating one ?
I got my first guitar when I was 15 (7 years ago) but I've been playing very casually. Not practicing the right things, if I practiced at all. Needless to say, I should be 10 times better than I am now.
But that doesnt stop me from playing the Am Pentatonic 1st Position like they're the only notes on the fretboard ?
It's a bad habit I've gotten myself into, when I'm not strumming, I always sound the same :-[
I picked up my guitar officially a few months ago, hellbent on practicing, I've been going at it like a cat on heat, and I'm starting now to make some progress ?
Last week I started going for some guitar lessons again. I'm optimistic. Am Pentatonic 1st position, I'll miss you, but at least we'll always have Paris.
I love interacting with people, hearing what everyone has to say, take advice, give some out if I have any. So please, if I say something wrong, or give out some bad advice, tell me. I can take it ?
Ok, now that I've finished telling you about boring me, I've started working on my gear, Not a that much to share at the moment, But I'm always happy to show what I've got.
This is my Peavey Blazerr 15Watt Practice amp, I think the speaker's blown, every sound it makes sounds the same so... ? I'm in the process of saving/looking for a new amp. I'm thinking a Cube40XL?
That little silver thingy next to the amp is my Zoom 505II multi effects processor goodie, it's not terrible for where I am right now. It's nothing special ?
My first Electric, Squier Bullet strat, bought for me by my Mom a few years back, and loved more than most people love their children.
My acoustic, Yamaha LJX6CA. Got it earlier this year for my birthday ?
And the newest member, My ESP LTD EC401FM that I bought secondhand from a seller on Gumtree, drove all the way to pick her up in Boksberg. So worth it!
I don't have my first acoustic with me at the moment, I've lent it to a friend who wants to start playing too ? But it's a "Macci" I dont know the Model number or anything, but it was my first guitar, and if my friend doesn't send it back the way she got it, there's going to be some 'splaining to do!
