  • Where to find used gear?

Where is the best place to look for second hand gear in Gauteng area? I'm currently trying to find a fixer-upper Japanese Ibby or something similar I can use as a project guitar to practice doing the electronics etc.

Also where can I post wanted ads on the site? ?
90% of the gear I possess was purchased second hand on this very site.
And every transaction was an absolute pleasure.
The classifieds tab on the site.
      Also check OLX and gumtree

The best thing to do is get the money together, then keep a daily watch for stuff on Gumtree and here. Doesn't matter what you're looking for, if you're patient, it will pop up eventually. There is a lot of good stuff out there ATM.

Yeah. All my horse-trading has been done here for the last few years too. I'd always rather buy from or sell to someone I know than some unknown on Gumtree. The only downside is all the stuff that pops up to torment me just when I can't afford it. ?

Jenny at Execu-pawn Blackheath - gems to be had but take your time look carefully.

eh... Bangladesh is a bit out of the way

? Oh I forgot Ol' Joe's second hand guitar emporium

                  buy , sell , trade ............

If someone here has access to big-ish conference room / hall for a similar event, it would be great ! ... all under one roof.

I reckon there's lots of okes here with guitars , amps and bits and pieces that they'd like to move , who'd gladly participate in such an event 8)
                  Flippin' good idea Joel!!
                  :yup:
Yep 2 jhb 2nd hand heavans are mentioned above , namely jenny's execu pawn and ronnies all bang an strummit ,

also if you in pta check out king louis's music , its got some great deals from time to time ....found an old 1955 gibson acoustic there for reasable cash and last month found an old 60's fender 4 x12 cab there for cheap .... They a small store and 2nd hand stocks flows thru regularly .... So make frequent visits if you want the gems, as gear sells quickly at good prices , i pop in once a week to see if anything is of interest .... But haggle .... Louis is a great guy and good bussiness man , so expect a higher 1st offer and if you have the cash offer a deal , i get fabulous prices on somethings and he won't budge on others , which is fair as he needs to make money too ... But always ask .... You may just get a cup of tea and a chat too , fabulous guy that louis and a nice bassist too .... So a true muso not just a salesman

You know what's even worse than seeing nice gear and not having money to buy it? Seeing nice gear but having the money to buy it, but you know you shouldn't. That PRS Custom in the classified section is making me lank nervous. I made myself a promise that I can get any guitar I want as a graduation gift to myself. I know what's good for me, but I can resit anything but temptation. If I get anything even remotely nice I'll end up not graduating for another 20 years. I've actually managed to trick myself into getting a guitar I can refinish. Sly subconscious...

Me: Give it to me straight doc.....
Doc: Jip, your GAS is chronic I'm afraid; incurable too.
