  • Steve Wilson (ft Guthrie Govan) at the Royal Festival Hall

So I have been seconded to work in London for 2 months.

I arrived on Sat. On Sunday night I was noodeling around on the web seeing what gigs were coming up.
To my overwhelming joy I saw that Steve Willson (Porcupine Tree) would be performing the next night at the Royal Festival Hall.

This was the best concert I have ever attended and I have seen a fair amount including Metallica, RHCP, Muse, Rammstein etc.

Really recommend giving his new solo album "The Raven That Refused to Sing" (they played the whole thing) a good listen.

The performance was helped by an incredible venue, spectacular light show, flawless sound (not just stereo), original multimedia vids and a band that included:

Guthrie Govan on guitar
Marco Minnermann on drums
Nick Beggs on bass
Adam Holzman on keyboards
Theo Travis on woodwind

They only played one Porcupine Tree song (Radio Active Vibes) as an encore as Steve said that the first 3 Porcupine Tree Albums were effectively solo albums so fair game for a solo tour.
    You lucky son-of-a-gun!

I can easily envision that this would be the best show I could ever attend. I love everything Steven Wilson (obviously Guthrie aswell) and the new album is no exception! Sadly, I wonder if I would ever get to see him/this line-up live. :'(
      I absolutely hate you.
        Man, that must've been awesome!

Gotta agree with the new album being absolutely stunning ?

The live band must have been incredible considering the line-up, this line up is close but missing the Guthrie ?

Man... that Minnermann guy is something special - and it takes a lot to stand out in an ensemble like that. I've always liked Nick Beggs too. The idea of Guthrie with this band is pretty mindblowing.
