Actually, with the way pianos have become such white elephants for most people these days, I've often considered them as a potentially good source of reclaimed wood. Also the older they are, the higher the quality the wood and the more likely they are unplayable - especially the older wood framed types (often with built in candlestick holders). Of course a well cared for Steinway, Bosendorfer or similar top piano is always going to hold it's value for those who can afford them and have the space, but the less well known names are already selling for under R5K or even being given away. Bill Knight has an old piano he was given - all beautiful, solid, English crotch walnut...
