Anyone have any experience with charvel basses?
Info on the net is few and far between?

Im picking one up and don't know much about it
Its a PJ setup with a fender style head stock, bolt on neck
Its apparently an early 90's, so a japan make

Only info I can seem to find is on the "pointy" head stock versions

I haven't seen many and those I have seen have been simple, inexpensive models. I guess you'll have to just judge it on its own merits.
Thanks Alan. Yeh I'm going to give it a shot. Check out the wood and so forth
      Thanks
The only Charvels I have seen have been the 'pointy' ones as you put it... I think they came from the same factory as the Jacksons, but I cannot confirm this. I haven't seen any other Charvel designs at all, so I would suggest you take a good look at it, in case someone has made a cheaper bass appear to be a Charvel?

The Charvels of old were reasonable basses, but nothing special. They did the job relatively inexpensively, and were great if you liked their design, but apart from that, they were just another one of the many names coming out of factorys in the east.

        Sorry I can't help more.
        Regards
        G!

Thanks everyone, yeh I tried it out, was pretty good but just didn't sit well enough in mixes, maybe its the reverse P pickup? And lacked a bit of mid range.
I returned it and opted for the fender jaguar which I love. I sold my first Jag which was a mistake. Even tho its made in china, I prefer it and used it more than my USA precision. Prob because of the low price, I don't have any qualms taking it to gigs around the country. I've never been comfortable taking my expensive basses on the road.
Hey man ! You are right about selling that First jag bass of yours, she's a beaut and I still play her all the time. Its starting to get gig wear on a weekly basis.
            Thanks again.
(p.s. The '78 Jazz got a completely new set of pickups, pots and wiring and is firing on all 12 cylinders)
