Well look at it this way... In this country, with such high crime stats, there's a certain amount of paranoia that goes hand in hand with it..... Even more so if you've been a victim beforehand.... I'm not vouching for the guy here... Don't get me wrong.... I'm not supporting shooting your girlfriend.... I mean there are other ways to get rid of them.... But not the point... What I'm saying is that IF the story is correct and he WAS surprised at 3am, I'd say he's pretty justified in putting well over 4 bullets into an intruder.... That's if the story is true....
And the whole shebang about announcing yourself and you gun to the intruders is a load of tosh.... If anyone here is getting robbed, try it.... I'll say something nice at your funeral.

I think that's understandable, the problem is the State Prosecution (Who's it Gerrie Nel?) probably the one of the best and smartest prosecutors, does not seem to share the mistaken intruder theory? On such a high profile case why would the NPA set themselves up for embarrassment if they felt the evidence dictated other wise?

All the cops had to do was check with the Security Office to see what time she entered the Estate.
Obviously they checked that, and obviously she didn't enter at 4am in the morning...she'd being there all the time.
I guess that's why they're charging him with murder...
You can bet his legal team will come up with all kinds of BS to defend him...we're looking at another "OJ" trial here.
I wonder who the judge will be? ?

Even so... Shooting an intruder who's "trapped in your bathroom", without the burglar posing a significant threat, isn't very legal. Even if she was a robber he would have had a hard time getting loose.

She cut the fence of the estate, got through the bathroom window (all in her PJ's) to surprise him 3'o clock in the morning??

Exactly why I said "IF" hey... I think there's so much speculation and stories floating around that nobody has a clear idea of what actually happened and we all have our own little conclusions. Like with me, I'd heard the story that she snuck in and startled him, other people have heard that she was there the whole time while others heard that he had aggro tendencies. Someone told me he had his "legs" on before he shot her? Others mention that her body was shot upstairs but found downstairs?
I think a major problem with this whole debacle is that there isn't a clear story for the general public to draw their conclusions from, meaning we're left waiting for the official police statement which will only come out later and not cover everything in detail. Meaning we may never know what actually went down.

We don't actually have the right to know. There's a lot of interest around this case because of Pistorius's celebrity, but the law and the security forces shouldn't treat this differently from any other crime. There's no requirement, for example, that the state must provide all it's evidence to the press for our consumption. Ditto for the defence.

It will all come out in an open court. Hopefully the press will report the matter accurately.

Would a psychopath know that they're a psychopath?

Not that I'm saying that Pistorius is psychopath (a judgement I'm not qualified to make). As of yet we don't really know WHAT happened, let alone why.

A key difference between this trial and the OJ trial is that in this country there are no juries for lawyers to play to.

There is no evidence that Oscar is a psycopath (which is a pretty specific psychological term).

However, I have a cousin who knows quite a bit about his behaviour outside of the public eye, and from those accounts he's not a very nice person (bad temper, ego, etc. as you mention). He obviously has good PR people.

That said, the media has been pretty crap at keeping the public properly informed on this one, but it's looking increasingly bad as the days go by.

Most probably not. In any case, the term is pretty widely misused. Not all psycopaths are killers, and a murderer is not necessarily a psycopath.

Perhaps an accurate assumption, perhaps not, but it still is an assumption and you are pre-judging the man. I'm just thankful the courts do not operate along the same logic that the general Facebook and online forum members are.
