Hey Guys,

A friend gave me an acoustic guitar that's only markis say "acks, model no MARK 31Ap, Hand Made"

A did a search for 'acks' and there are two posts online about a Suzuki 'acks' nylon string guitar from the late 60's but that all.

Does anyone know anything about these guitars?\

Andrew

Pics would help - a nice clear one of the label too.

However, something tells me that it is probably a once-off someone built as a project.
yup, pics definitely. between the chaps here your chances of identifying it are quite good, provided it's a production guitar and not a once-off as alan mentioned. is it possible that part of the label has worn off?

      good luck
      dh
Just trying to figure out the pic upload process. Will get them up asap.
I know there's a shadow on the top part of the label but the re is now more writing on it at all other than what you can read in the pic.
I could not find anything on ACKS as a brand, what I did find was a brand Marina which had a model Mark 31 AP Made by the Chuan Yin Musical Instruments Co Ltd in Taiwan.

This factory only produced guitars from 1971-1996.

            coincidence .....may be
maybe drop this bidorbuy seller a message & see if he knows anything about them since he sold one (different model) a while back

or try this guy in new zealand who seems convince it is a mexican guitar

              but, based on this page:

with an identical label it seems that the suzuki connection may well be there..

              how does the guitar sound?

Ja, the nylon sting that was for sale made me think of the suzuki connection as well.
It doesn't sound bad at all but the action is extremely high and the neck is very thick. I'm thinking if it's worth thinning the neck out and getting the action sorted.

Noooo.... there is a lot of tone in "thick" necks, get it sorted with a setup and enjoy it for what it is....

Attila speaks no word of lie! Rather get a proper setup first. ?
