I have been waiting for years to get a Strat. Thank you to some on the forum (Alan, Bob etc) who advised me on which Strat is likely to produce the sound I was after. A BIG thank you to Brendan Peackock (Ex GFSA) who gave me 2 Strats on loan for a couple of weeks to help me make up my mind. Anyway, so it arrived yesterday and here are some pics. This is how it arrived in it's very rugged and spiffy Fender case. The kind Fender people ship these with jack cable, strap and cleaning cloth. Here the finish on the neck is quite visible (apologies for the slight blur, I was shaking), I have always wanted a Maple neck. And here are 2 pics where the maple grain is visible. I am very happy and hope that new sounds will open up to me with much practice.

Congrats. This is one beautiful guitar. Love the grain on the neck. Had a Clapton strat years ago in this exact colour. Really regret selling it.

The C shape neck is taking some getting used to though (for me). And of course I do things that are classical or flamenco idiomatic with left hand (technique wise) and so I have to adjust that as well.

I hope I can do the instrument justice.
You'll find that a player like Mark Knopfler has a lot in common with your classical style...especially the finger picking bit and general technique..... And it sounds great on a Strat !

Yes I am hoping for that. I have studies by old classical guitar composers that I want to involve this guitar in. I mean bring it in as a 2nd instrument for interest's sake.

The tone is the main thing I was after.

No no....fiesta red is also cool.... ?.

However Conrad has now unleashed a pretty big GAS in me for a olympic white strat ! ? I now really regret reading this thread ?

Huh? Strats only look good in solid colours - automotive wherever possible. They're meant to be painted like big 50s American cars.

So foam green for me please, or fiesta red, or lake placid blue or even surf green

All this modern blueburst nonsense is just nonsense.
