  • Anyone played a Fender Super Champ X2 tube combo? Your thoughts?

I've watched a few youtube vids on it and it sounds pretty awesome for a 15w. You can really hear the tubes working in the lil mamba. Anyone own it or played it before? I'm really thinking of getting it. I wanted a Super sonic 22w but its too loud for my room and I dont have a band. The 15w seems the more logical choice, plus its tube which is perfect.

Don't judge an amp by its power. Smaller (less power) tube amps are likely to sound better than bigger ones, because you can work the valves harder.

Also, a 22 watt amp is not going to be any louder than a 15 watt amp, remember, you need 10 times the power to double the volume, i.e. through the same speaker, a 150 Watt amp is twice as loud as a 15 Watt and a 30 Watt amp is only noticeably louder than a 15watt.

I have an 18 watt amp that has adjustable power, and I almost never gig it set to more than 5 or 6 watt. I have also gigged with my Blackstar HT5 which is a little 5 watt 'practice' amp.

So if you like the Supersonic better, get that one instead.
i own an X2 , excellent amp i reckon and with Fuse technology one can get pretty much any tone needed. I also confess to being a fan of the FUSE stuff. Its only full tube on the clean channel by the way.

Even at 15 watts it gets pretty damn loud ,much louder than needed at bedroom levels imho. Takes pedals pretty well too. i think for bedroom only you should look at Vox ac4 or small amps with power reducers. The X2 deos not have a headphone jack either (iirc)

For the money there is lil to rival these , remembering these are full tube amps.

Sounds good. Well I've already ordered it so no turning back now. So doesn't the second channel use any tubes at all with the voicings?? Cause it definitely doesn't sound solid state :-\ Yeah the FUSE is an awesome addition, gona have some fun playing around with it.
I imported my Superchamp xd from the states and it is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME

Hi Bassman, where did you import it from? I am looking at it. Were you impressed?

GavinNorton Just in bassman is long gone (9 yrs later!)...

They are great amps - bear in mind that's they are rocking a 10in speaker. Output to a 2x12 cab loaded with some tasty speakers and it sounds even better. And easily hang's with a drummer!
