I think it's more that they wear pseudo Clockwork Orange eyeliner... which would be fine if every Killers type band of the last 10 years hadn't already killed that trick. Personally I don't mind eyeliner but hate the way lipstick feels.

I remember clearly when I arrived back here,people telling me "I must listen to Parlatones"a dozen times
It sounded so 90's, but it was 2008/9?
Which reminds me of a review of CT band VOD's Bloedrivier...in a well known o/s metal mag...
it was about a 200 word review praising it and all that... but ended with these words"A shame it's 10 years too late"
So maybe now in the USA they might come of age...???get with the times?

I made a dissing comment on Twitter once and the guitarist replied to me. He seemed to have a sense of humour about it. I'm sure they know they're the band people love to hate.

Their last song had a cool intro, then it became Parlotones again. I'm also very bored of Prime Circle.*

My problem is that the Beatles set the benchmark for me. Sure they started out with what we would think is very pop today, but they grew and changed and went freaky then not so much. Constant change is here to stay, Someone should tell Kahn and Ross...

*Mind you, i thoroughly enjoy Ross' vocals and sometimes the guitar tone is epic. Strings are nice too.

Different approaches Donovan. The Ramones stayed almost exactly the same for 22 years. And it was 22 years of awesomeness for fans. But there's was a melodic, exciting, but ultimately uncompromising thing.

Ultimately, to be good, you've got to be for something. Even Whitney or Michael Jackson - who we think of as purely commercial - had their thing that was polished to a mirror-shine. Even Barry White had his thing for which we can respect him.

something i cant understand is the reference to parlotones and coldplay..

to me, they sound nothing alike...
not to mention the fact that i enjoy maybe only 5 of coldplays songs compared to most of the parlotones songs...

but thats just me.. carry on hating...
