You know, i like Mika, but lets just be real here..
The parlotones are endorsed by fender.. Who here on the forum is also endorsed by them? yeah, exactly!
They're famous, making money, their music f**k**g sucks, they wear make up like real rockers (alice cooper, kiss, green day etc) and they're likeable guys.
they worked their way up, and it wasnt handed to them on a plate.
you wanna hate? go ahead, but surely it just drains your energy yeah?!
Fixed it for ya bud.
And no, unlike some fabulous rock 'n rollers on this forum, I have less than no issue with them wearing makeup. But it doesn't makeup (ta-da!) for the fact that, in contradiction to what Ray said (see where these things actually start? - Singemonkey's not
always the top cock in the henhouse) there are performers on this forum who show up these greenback-hamsters for the shallow, endorsement vehicle that they are.
Sure. Mediocrity makes us all seem awesome. But then why bother practise? If mom likes the way we play now, we're just as good as the Parlotones already... or MIKA, right? Cos someone likes us. There's no better or worse. Everyone's a winner. ? MIKA might be dedicated to doing more than just getting a KFC sponsorship, but that doesn't matter. What matters is bums on seats. Nirvana is only as important as Bony M, right? Steve Hoffmeyer is more important than Bright Blue. It makes perfect sense to me now. Nah. You may have realised I'm being sarcastic. Tough world. Not everyone agrees with Ray that all gfsa musicians are as appallingly sh** as the Parlotones as he suggested.
How is working their way up a virtue in art? The rolling stones practically walked into fame (due to timing and much else) while the Ramones slogged it out for 25 years barely able to afford apartments. All of the above worked hard. I don't claim the Parlotones haven't worked hard to be SA's plastic band of the past 5 years, good for them. But if that was all it took, any crap that had worked at it long enough would be forced onto our stereos. I'd be forced to listen to Mike and the Mechanics. And life's too damn short.
