Hi guys

Was just wondering if we can order from musicians friend? as i far as i think i know, we can only order used equipment from them?

thanx will appreciate any feedback because it seems much cheaper then buying here in south africa. especially fender equipment.
    thanx for replying.

i see if you buy for over 500dollars, then shipping is free, but only taxes and duties apply. how much does that cost usually and how do they work it out?
planning to order a amp from them.

If you read through the forum link Alan posted above, you'll get an overview of the purchases many GF members have made from MF (especially recently).

What I recall is there is no import duties/vat payable on used musical goods.

Just bought an amp for $480 from them (added a pedal to push the order over $500) for free shipping. Duties and taxes came to R750. Delivered via DHL in little over a week from order.

Maybe when you check-out your order, say its a gift (there's an option for that). Perhaps that'll help with duties. Some guys have got away without paying anything.
The gift thing is only something like R250 a year.

If it's being couriered, you will be charged VAT and clearance/disbursement fees as the couriers all have their own in-house clearance, so it won't "slip through" as things (usually smaller) do with the postal service.
Also if its an amp, its gonna be made for 110V power. So you'll also have to factor in having the power transformer rewound for SA's 230V power - that also costs money. You can expect to pay anything from R500 - R1000 for that.
Some amps just have a switch for 110V or 230V, in which case that would be easy and wont cost you a cent.
Hey. Do they ship stuff new for which there isn't an agent here? And does the free over $500 thing still apply?

Got other amp plans, but those Egnaters sure seem great. ?
