Welcome to GFSA in ZA! It's always been prohibitively expensive to host the forum in ZA but that's changed recently thanks to all the luvverly international bandwidth cables that have been laid recently (and are still planned to be laid). Most notably, Seacom has really improved things and we're finding a lot more local companies offering uncapped hosting and stuff like that.
The benefits of hosting locally are mainly speed but, also, for those of you on local-only caps, you should be able to browse the forum where before you couldn't.
But of course, there are some teething issues:
- I seem able to use the forum fine but not a single other soul has posted since last night, 8pm. So if you're seeing this, post something!
- The site is now hosted on virtual server until I can get myself a dedicated ZA server. That means we might have a few database slow-downs as memory is limited. Keep that in mind when posting.
- Other stuff might have not gone according to plan during the move. If you notice something, post about it and, if it's a problem I can confirm, I'll hopefully be able to fix it.
