There are two Yamaha TRB 5 strings basses at a second hand shop near Cresta. The one has been there for a long long time (I'm talking years). I think it was going for about R8000 don't know the price now. But I was wondering, if it has been sitting there for so long and a second one almost the same (different colors) also came in, are they overpriced? Are the TRB's just not that good? Your thoughts....

There's nothing wrong with trb's, choosing an instrument is completely personal preference... if it "speaks" to you then there's no problem.
I've learnt that you cant say that one brand is better than the next, its up to the player and what feels right in your hands...and if u dig the sound
Some trb's r quite price, well should I say most hahaha.
Cheapest 1 I've seen was around 8k secondhand in ct.
I've always been a fender guy because iit feels right in my hands and I like the tone and the way it records on studio, I've found some yamahas a little "in your face" much like warwicks, but they are a lot smoother and not as aggresive, where I find that fenders sit well in a mix...that's my opinion.
Try it out and if u dig it then that's that ?

Wise words!
I am just wondering why they have been there so long? Are there just very few basses being sold these days or is there something else that's going on?

To me its like the country goes through crazes......
Years ago ibanez was the go to bass, then warwicks, then musicman etc...
Now its so hard to sell warwicks and musicman that people drop the prices drastically
Reason? Dunno. It could bbe that our country is getting a lot more exposure to different brands nowadays that we aarent forced to buy the few brands that the shops stock?
My dad told me a while back that not a single person would want a fender bbass from the 70's, now they r one of the mmost sought after collectables.
The next craze? My guess is g&l, they brought in a huge shipment and I see iit aat every music store now.
But ifor mme I buy a bass that I can feel and a bass ththat speaks tto me, then it kinda sticks wwith me forever, and i don't eqsily part with it. My go to bass now is a cheap fender jaguar, to me it just feels right. So right that im parting ways with my 2 american fenders. Its weird I know but its a preference of the player.
I dont ssee mmany yamaha basses on the circuit, it doesn't mean they junk, it means that it may not be someone cup of tea but to someone else its a diamond
(Sorry for double letters, my tablet is freakin out on forums haha...tablets, another craze)

Yeah that sounds very possible!!!
I played it unplugged and it felt fantastic. I feel bad plugging in and giving a good whirl knowing that I won't buy it, so I don't really know what the tone is like. anyway, that does settle my mind on the subject! Thanks!
